Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm has said he is flattered by comparisons to former Buccaneers captain Oupa Manyisa.
Timm flattered by comparisons to Manyisa
Timm joined Pirates ahead of the 2022/23 season and has quickly become a fan favorite. He was instrumental in the club’s MTN8 victory and has been a key player in their DStv Premiership campaign.
Timm has been compared to Manyisa, who was a two-time treble winner with Pirates. Both players are box-to-box midfielders who are known for their work ethic and passing ability.
Timm is still early in his career, but he has the potential to be a great player for Pirates. He is a valuable asset to the team and will be a key player in their future success.
MIGUEL TIMM ON THE OUPA MANYISA COMPASSION
The 31-year-old midfielder is proud of his accomplishments, but he believes he cannot be compared to Manyisa.
This means that Timm is happy with what he has achieved, but he also knows that Manyisa is a more accomplished player. Timm is humble and respectful of Manyisa’s achievements, and he knows that he has a lot to learn from him.
“With regards to the fans, I don’t think I can be compared to Ace,” said Timm. “He has won more than I have in his time here. So I still have a long way to go.”
Timm, also a Bafana Bafana player, has played 32 matches in all competitions in Pirates colours: over 2600 minutes in his first season at the club.
“It was not my intention to become a fan favourite but to just contribute to the team in a positive way,” he added.
“And I believe I always give my all, and I’ve always been a team player. I want to continue that way. But that’s an extra bonus [fans chant] for me. But I like to share the energy along with my teammates in the field when the going is tough.”
