In a major boost for South African football, Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie has confirmed that Bloemfontein Celtic will make a return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
According to McKenzie, several potential buyers are in the running to purchase Royal AM, with an auction that took place on Monday, March 16. A deal has already been finalized by a group planning to bring a team to the Free State, although details remain under wraps due to a non-disclosure agreement.
The Minister assured that Free State soccer is set to return, with Siwelele making a comeback. McKenzie’s announcement has sparked excitement among football fans in the region, who have been eagerly awaiting the return of their beloved team.
A number of high-profile individuals have allegedly made bids for Royal AM, including David Skosana, Joe Sibanyoni, and DJ Black Coffee. An unnamed Democratic Republic of Congo businessman and Greek businessmen associated with McKenzie are also reportedly in the running. Bids for the team range from R15 million to R25 million, with the winning bidder set to be announced soon.
