Polokwane City Football Club is reportedly considering a change in leadership, with head coach Phuti Mohape facing the axe if the team’s fortunes do not improve in the upcoming fixtures. Sources from inside indicate that the club is unhappy with the current performance and is considering a change at the top.
Polokwane City aimed to qualify for the CAF tournament this season and decided to keep their best players instead of selling them. However, the results on the field have been disappointing. The team hasn’t won a game since February when they defeated Chippa United. Since then, they have lost five consecutive league matches.
The pressure mounts ahead of their next encounter against Orlando Pirates, a challenging match that will test Mohape’s tactical acumen against a side eager to close the gap on the league leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns. This match will be crucial for Mohape, as he needs to show that he can turn things around and keep his job through the end of the season.
Currently, Polokwane City sits in 6th place on the log standings with 31 points after 22 matches. With so much at stake, all eyes will be on them in the coming weeks. In football, anything can happen, and the pressure is on Phuti Mohape to deliver results.
