Nasreddine Nabi joined Kaizer Chiefs in Turkey on Sunday to begin his tenure as head coach. The team is currently preparing their squad in the European nation, with high hopes that Nabi will lead them to end their nine-season-long DStv Premiership title drought. He succeeded Cavin Johnson, who was recently sacked.
Cavin Johnson served as Kaizer Chiefs’ interim coach following Molefi Ntseki’s firing. To ensure success, Nasreddine Nabi has brought his trusted technical team, which includes Fernando da Cruz and Khalil Ben Youssef as his first and second assistant coaches, respectively. IIyes Mzoughi is the goalkeeper’s coach, and Majdi Safi handles strength and conditioning.
AYMAN MAKROUD WILL NOT BE JOINING KAIZER CHIEFS
However it has emerged that one of Nasreddine Nabi’s trusted lieutenants Ayman Makroud will no longer be joining the club.
Makroud was all set to be the team’s performance analyst, but he has decided to pursue a different career path. Though he did not reveal where he is headed, the performance analyst confirmed his decision against joining AmaKhosi.
“I deeply appreciate your warm messages. However, I regret to inform you that I will not be joining the club as planned. I have decided to pursue another project, which I will announce soon,” reads Makroud’s statement.
A lot is expected from Nabi, especially as Chiefs hope to turn around their fortunes after finishing 10th in the league last season.
They will start their competitive life under Nabi’s tutelage later this month against Young Africans in the first-ever edition of the Toyota Cup. The ‘ground-breaking pre-season Cup’ will be played in Bloemfontein. And it will continue for the the next three years during the off-season.
