Kaizer Chiefs are facing some serious challenges and might need to rethink their entire approach to the game.
In the current season, they’ve only managed to score 16 goals in 18 league matches. That’s less than one goal per game, which clearly shows there’s a big problem. This isn’t a new issue either. Last season, they scored only 32 goals in 30 matches. For a team like Chiefs, this isn’t good enough. Their upcoming matches include one against Golden Arrows during the week, followed by a huge game against Orlando Pirates next weekend.
The performance of some key players has been underwhelming. Ranga Chivaviro hasn’t been up to the mark in attack, Wandile Duba is still inexperienced, and Jasond Gonzalez isn’t trusted by the club.
But it’s not just the strikers who are struggling; the quality of chances created isn’t great either. Maybe it’s time for Chiefs to change their formation drastically. Whatever they’re doing now isn’t effective.
They could also take a risk by giving more playing time to young talents like Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi. It’s a gamble, but if it helps win back the support of the fans, it’s worth considering.
