The possibility of Thulani Serero rejoining Cape Town Spurs, a Mzansi team, excites former Ajax Cape Town star midfielder Nhlanhla Shabalala.
According to Sunday World, Shabalala thinks Serero’s decision to rejoin Spurs, formerly known as Ajax Cape Town, could help the team.
The retired midfielder believes that Serero, a former Bafana Bafana star, could inspire many Spurs players because his future is uncertain.
Shabalala appears to be anticipating the Soweto-born player’s potential return as the South African transfer window, which opened on August 1, is still open and scheduled to close on September 22.
The current secretary general of the South African Football Player’s Union, a former midfielder for Ajax and AmaZulu, examines Serero’s connection to Mzansi clubs like Spurs.
Shabalala stated to Sunday World, “I believe if Thulani returns to the club, it will inspire confidence in the other players and will benefit the brand identity.
Giving back to your roots is, after all, always encouraged as a way to express gratitude and pay respect to the company that aided in the development of his career.But we must also be aware that, should this occur, the club will likely have some financial obligations to fulfil.
Although affordability is important, it’s also crucial to determine whether the club’s mission and vision align with the applicant’s beliefs and short- and long-term goals.
Serero, who has yet to make a decision about his future, has also been linked with moves to Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, as the South African recently reported.
The South African was informed by a source about the potential inclusion of the fan favourite in the DStv Premiership.
“No, he hasn’t told me anything yet, and I was unaware that the Chiefs wanted Thulani. But I doubt he’ll sign with Chiefs,” the source says, according to The South African.
Serero, a former star for Ajax Amsterdam, is heavily linked with a move to Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates, a team led by Pitso Mosimane.
The Shaun Bartlett-coached Spurs were promoted back to the top-tier league in 2020 after spending five years in the National First Division.
