The decision comes after a narrow 2-1 loss to Kaizer Chiefs in a Betway Premiership match on Wednesday, adding to the club’s recent struggles.
Truter, who joined the Natal Rich Boys at the beginning of the season with high hopes of a top-four league finish, departs after managing just 11 games in all competitions and the club is currently occupying 14 place in the standings.
Under Truter’s guidance, the team reached the Carling Knockout semi-finals but suffered a shock defeat to Magesi FC, which reportedly frustrated club chairman Jomo Biyela.
“We did not fire the coach, however for our sanity, it was best that we go our separate ways with our integrity intact. The coach did not meet the performance requirements for the season,” Biyela told SABCSport.
Despite the early promise, the campaign has not met expectations, prompting the club to part ways with the 52-year-old coach.
For now, assistant coaches Ronnie Gabriel and Sboniso Gumede will lead the team as interim coaches, starting with their upcoming clash against AmaZulu, until a permanent head coach is appointed.
