Kaizer Chiefs Extend Contract Offers to Maart and Frosler
Kaizer Chiefs are taking proactive steps to secure the futures of two key players, Yusuf Maart and Reeve Frosler, as their contracts approach expiration in June 2025. According to insider reports, the Soweto giants have tabled offers to retain both players beyond the current season.
Maart, the club captain, has been a pivotal figure at Naturena since joining two-and-a-half years ago. Despite his leadership role, the 28-year-old midfielder has faced criticism from fans over inconsistent performances in recent months. However, his influence on and off the pitch has made him an indispensable part of Amakhosi’s setup, prompting the club to move quickly to ensure his continuity.
Meanwhile, Frosler, who has been with Chiefs since 2019, is nearing 150 appearances in competitive matches. The 25-year-old defender has often struggled for consistent game time, especially following the arrival of Zitha Kwinika from Stellenbosch FC. Despite this, Frosler’s versatility and experience remain valuable assets to the team, making him a priority for renewal.
The decision to extend these contracts comes at a critical time, as the January transfer window looms. Should Maart or Frosler remain unsigned by then, they would be free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with other clubs. Chiefs are determined to avoid such a scenario, ensuring the stability of their squad heading into the second half of the season.
Reports also suggest uncertainty around other expiring contracts, notably that of Edson Castillo, further emphasizing the importance of Maart and Frosler to the club’s future plans.
Chiefs fans will be eagerly awaiting official announcements to confirm the deals, with hopes that these moves will signal a step toward a more consistent and competitive squad.
