The PSL on Wednesday announced the goals for the months since the beginning of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season. The new selection format is spearheaded by Manchester United striker coach Benni McCarthy and fellow Bafana Bafana legend Steven Pienaar. It replaces the old format that fans used to vote for online.
The award recognizes the best goals in the league on a monthly basis. All the goals from each month were made available to the two legends to select the winning Goal.
GOAL OF THE MONTH WINNERS
August winner
Phillip Ndlondlo’s shot into the top corner from the edge of the 18-yard area against Royal AM was selected as the best goal to kick off the new season. Ndlondlo was still in the books of Marumo Gallants.
September/October
Yusuf Maart’s incredible match-winning strike from his own half for Kaizer Chiefs during the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates took the honours.
December/January
Themba Zwane of Mamelodi Sundowns, brilliantly drove with the ball forward from deep in his own half, before connecting a one-two touch with Cassius Mailula, and then finishing off the move he started, saw him win the best goal for the month.

Lantshene Phalane’s powerful drive with his left foot for Royal AM was a unanimous winner from the legends for the month.
All the winners will contest for the goal of the Season at the PSL Awards later this month. The winners will each receive a trophy and R7,000 courtesy of DStv.
