A leading African club has expressed interest in the services of Khama Billiat as a lack of clarity hangs over his future at Chiefs.
As the season heads towards an end, it’s crunch time between Khama Billiat and Kaizer Chiefs as negotiations are expected to escalate.
Notably, though, newly crowned Tanzanian champions Young Africans have now acknowledged he is the sort of player they will be keeping an eye on as the season draws to a close.
“He is a high-level player that we would like to have in our team,” the club’s vice president Arafat Haji told Isolezwe newspaper on Sunday. “We know him and we know that his contract is ending. However, he is still a Chiefs player, we must respect that.
“We will discuss the signing of players and plans for next season after the season is over.”
For quite some Billiat’s exit from Kaizer Chiefs has been widely expected – even as he draws closer to returning to full fitness after a recent injury setback.
The increasing feeling has been that Billiat is in his final chapter with Chiefs, with some reports suggesting the 32-year-old’s contract is unlikely to be renewed when it expires after this season. It could bring an end to his five-year stint at Naturena, which has largely failed to live up to its hype since his move from Mamelodi Sundowns.
