Oswin Appollis finds himself in transfer limbo as Polokwane City remains silent, creating uncertainty around his potential move to Kaizer Chiefs, according to SABC Sport.
Despite Chiefs’ keen interest in the midfielder, Polokwane City’s lack of communication has stalled the negotiations. This silence is causing frustration and uncertainty for Appollis, who is eager to secure his future ahead of the new season
Polokwane City attacker Oswin Appollis faces uncertainty over his future as the club has not responded to a significant offer from Tunisian giants Esperance. The South African forward had anticipated clear communication by now, especially after Esperance tabled a bid far exceeding any Premier Soccer League (PSL) rival’s offer.
Esperance has shown serious intent to sign Appollis by submitting a written offer and subsequently revising it at Polokwane City’s request. Despite these efforts, the Tunisian club has yet to receive a response, leaving the potential deal hanging in the balance.
As it stands, the transfer could fall through unless Polokwane decides to engage in further discussions. Esperance remains hopeful of negotiating personal terms with Appollis, provided they get the green light from Polokwane City.
APPOLLIS LINKED TO PSL GIANTS: KAIZER CHIEFS, SUNDOWNS, AND PIRATES
Reports have connected Appollis with major PSL teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates. However, none of these clubs have officially confirmed their interest since the transfer window opened.
Polokwane City, led by coach Phuti Mohafe, has resumed pre-season training and prepares for their first fixture of the new campaign—a MTN8 quarter-final clash against Sundowns on August 11 at Lucas Moripe Stadium. The status of Appollis before this game remains uncertain as Esperance continues to pursue the transfer.
The 22-year-old Appollis was a standout performer for Polokwane City last season and earned a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where he returned with a bronze medal.
OSWIN APPOLLIS’ REPRESENTATIVE SPEAKS: WHY THE TRANSFER MAY BE STALLED
Appollis’ representative, Lance Davids, shed light on the situation. “You’d probably get a better answer from the two clubs, but from our side we did everything possible to try to facilitate the move,” Davids explained.
“Our understanding is that Esperance submitted an initial offer, which they later improved, but apparently they could not get a response from anyone at the club. Maybe Polokwane City have other offers lined up that we don’t know about.”
