Kaizer Chiefs have sent a cheeky social media message to Percy Tau who has reportedly been released by Al Ahly.
Tau signed for Al Ahly from English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion with former coach Pitso Mosimane still at the helm of the Egyptian giants at the time.
Mosimane was credited for playing a huge role in attracting the player to return to African football, and early signs proved that the combination was going to bring about happy memories for the duo and as well as the club.
However, after the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach left the club, things seemed to take a turn for the worst for Tau.
Tau began to find the going tough after Mosimane’s departure, and was dropped in the next Al Ahly squad. Fortunes did not really change that much for the Bafana Bafana international either, and rumours began to intensify, linking the player to an exit. Now that exit was initially mooted to happen after the season at the very least, and now the recent reports of an immediate release have come as a shock to many.
CHIEFS PLAYFUL MESSAGE
As the news began to filter throughout South Africa, the official Chiefs twitter account did not help matters, by fuelling the please from their fans to the club to sign Tau.
In what is perhaps more of a lighthearted tweet rather than a transfer hint, the Chiefs admin went back to a Tweet from last year where Tau wished current Chiefs captain and close friend Keagan Dolly good luck with his move to the club, The duo also played together at Mamelodi Sundowns. The admin went and posted a heart as well as peace sign which of course, is synonymous with the club.
As it stands, there has not been any concrete speculation on Tau to Chiefs, but it is also important to note that, no official statement has come from Al Ahly yet either. If or when that statement does come, it will then be interesting to see if the Soweto giants do then show an interest in the player.
