Reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns seem to have reignited their hopes of landing Cape Town City’s Terrence Mashego.
45min has reported that Masandawana are monitoring his situation at the club.
Mashego is currently recovering from surgery and hasn’t featured at all for the Citizens since the start of the 2022/23 campaign. However, that has not kept him from being linked with the Premier Soccer League’s big guns.
45min reported recently that Kaizer Chiefs had enquired about the Bafana Bafana left back before eventually signing his ex teammate Edmilson Dove.
But there are also strong indications that City might trigger a two year option on his contract.
This would automatically mean that he is now on their books until June 2024, according to information provided by Siya sources privy to the details between the two parties.
And the latest reaching the Soccer Laduma desk is that Mamelodi Sundowns are sniffing around and asking questions about the player’s future, having got word that City would be open to parting ways with Mashego.
That is if all the parties agree with what is being tabled.
Mashego was roped in by Cape Town City from TS Galaxy, with Ebrahim Seedat going in the opposite direction at the time.
He went on to make a name for himself and he has been an instrumental figure in the colours of Cape Town City. He is made for success.
It’s proved to be a step up in the player’s career following his Bafana call-up, and now both Chiefs and Sundowns have taken notice.
Indications are that should Downs enter the race, as expected, this is likely then to be a tussle between the two clubs and could come down to which club is willing to pay more for the 24-year-old star.
