Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi recently addressed the swirling transfer rumors, particularly focusing on the club’s efforts to bolster their attacking options.
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has decisively ended the speculation linking the club with high-profile forwards Percy Tau and Fiston Mayele. Despite the busy transfer window, which has seen the addition of five new players, including four defenders.
Recent media speculation suggested that Kaizer Chiefs were pursuing Bafana Bafana and Al Ahly winger Percy Tau. However, Nabi has firmly dismissed these claims. “There are no negotiations with Percy Tau because I believe he still has one year left on his contract,” Nabi told OnTime Sports.
He emphasised, “Kaizer Chiefs respects the FIFA rules. If ever there’s an opportunity to sign him, it will be through official channels. We respect Al Ahly, they are a great team.”
Fiston Mayele rumours: Nabi denies any contact.
The buzz around Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele also proved unfounded. Despite the connection between Mayele and Nabi, who previously managed him at Young Africans SC, the coach reiterated, “It’s the same situation with Fiston Mayele. He’s like family to me; we worked well together [at Young Africans]. But he has a contract with Pyramids, and he’s not available. We respect that and have not engaged in any negotiations.”
Mayele’s agent, Yasmin Mudele, confirmed that while there is mutual admiration between the player and the coach, Pyramids remains firm on keeping the striker. “We have Nabi there [at Kaizer Chiefs], who’s our favourite coach. However, the situation is that the player has a contract, and Pyramids are not willing to release him,” said Mudelet.
