Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly narrowed their search for a new striker down to two final candidates
Kaizer Chiefs’ striker search appears to be expanding, with new names emerging as potential targets. Recently, Lungelo Nguse, a striker from Golden Arrows, has been linked to the club according to reports from Soccer Laduma.
Nguse, known for his pace and finishing ability, could be a valuable addition to Chiefs’ front line as they look to increase their goal-scoring options. In addition to Nguse, Chiefs have also shown interest in Clement Mzise, a 20-year-old Tanzanian forward. Mzise, who earned his first cap for Tanzania in September 2023, is a rising talent with significant potential. His youth and international experience could make him an exciting prospect for the future.
Chiefs’ pursuit of Fiston Mayele has hit a major roadblock. Despite being long-standing admirers of the 30-year-old Congolese striker, who boasts an impressive record of 14 goals and four assists in 25 CAF Champions League appearances, the deal is now off the table.
Mayele, currently with Pyramids FC, has a strong connection with Chiefs’ coach Nasreddine Nabi, having worked together successfully at Young Africans in Tanzania. However, the transfer has stalled due to two significant issues: Chiefs’ reluctance to meet Pyramids FC’s valuation of Mayele and the player’s high wage demands.
These factors have made it difficult for the Soweto giants to proceed with the signing, leading them to explore alternative options as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
