After a series of injuries that hampered his progress, Ashley du Preez has been pivotal to Kaizer Chiefs’ recent successes.
The 25-year-old attacker scored the winner in Amakhosi’s victory over Casric Stars in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16, and he provided two assists in their 3-2 win over Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday.
Coach Arthur Zwane has expressed his happiness with Du Preez’s renaissance and attributed his struggles to injuries.
“Yes, we’ve already believed in Ash, a top player, top striker. Very explosive, and team player as well,” Zwane told the media.
“Unfortunately for him, his progress was hampered by injuries. Whenever he came back we thought he had regained his form, then some niggling injuries would take him out for some time.”
Du Preez’s recent performances have been a welcome boost for Kaizer Chiefs who will be looking to continue their winning streak in their next DStv Premiership game against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, 1 April at the FNB Stadium.
