Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu were in talks about a player during January’s transfer window, but the deal didn’t work out.
Earlier this season, Kaizer Chiefs grabbed attention by releasing some of their DStv Diski Challenge players. Among them were notable players like DDC captain Omega Mdaka and right-back Puso Dithejane. Both were let go due to disciplinary issues after they refused to do ball boy duties for the first team.
While Dithejane quickly found a new team in TS Galaxy, Mdaka hasn’t landed anywhere yet. Although AmaZulu showed interest in him and reportedly offered him a contract for their reserve team, Mdaka didn’t sign it.

However, AmaZulu head coach Pablo Martin revealed a different side of the story. He stated that both Mdaka and the club were keen on the deal, but negotiations between AmaZulu and Chiefs hit a snag over the transfer fee.
Martin said, “He trained with us for a week and showed promise for the club’s future. But there were issues in the negotiations between the clubs. There was a release clause from Chiefs that made finalizing the deal impossible.”
Recent reports suggest Mdaka is feeling down after leaving Chiefs and the failed move to AmaZulu.
Mdaka is currently at home, reportedly feeling low in spirits following his departure from Chiefs and the unsuccessful attempt to join AmaZulu.
