Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are in a tussle over the signing of Bafana Bafana winger Luther Singh. Both clubs are keeping a close eye on the 26-year-old’s situation, as reported by the south african.
According to a source, there has been interest from various European leagues including Sweden, Norway, the MLS, and the Saudi League. Additionally, several African teams, including one from Soweto (likely Chiefs or Pirates), have made contact. An offer from an Egyptian team was also on the table but was turned down. Singh’s representatives are considering all options carefully to secure the best future for him.
Singh, who was released by Serbian club FK Čukarički earlier this year after a brief spell, has had stints in Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden. Despite his nomadic career, he has represented Bafana Bafana on 13 occasions since making his debut in March 2017, with his most recent appearance being in 2021 during World Cup qualifying against Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune’s 24-year-old Elias Mokwana has been a standout performer this season, registering four goals and three assists in 15 league appearances for Babina Noko. He has also earned a call-up to the latest Bafana squad for friendlies against Algeria and Andorra. Mokwana has expressed admiration for Chiefs but admitted a soft spot for their Soweto rivals, Pirates.
Sources close to Mokwana believe that Chiefs could be the frontrunners if they present a satisfactory offer. The player is inclined towards Naturena due to the potential for more playing time compared to Pirates, where competition for places is fierce. This move could bolster his chances for regular inclusion in the Bafana setup, thus strengthening his long-term prospects.
