Chiefs Suffer Yet Another Injury Blow Ahead of New Season
Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt another significant setback as they prepare for the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season. The club announced on Sunday that Edmilson Dove has joined the growing injury list after sustaining an injury during Friday’s training session at their pre-season camp in Turkey.
The Mozambican international defender, a key player for Amakhosi, was examined by the medical team in Turkey. However, it has been decided that Dove will leave the camp and return to South Africa for a full assessment and further medical attention.
In a statement, Chiefs expressed their support for Dove and the other injured players: “We wish him, and the rest of the injured fellows a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them back on the training grounds and field of play soon.”

Dove’s injury compounds the club’s woes as he joins Mduduzi Mdantsane, Tebogo Potsane, Dillan Solomons, and George Matlou on the injury list. The quartet did not travel with the squad to Turkey due to their respective injuries, leaving a significant gap in the team’s pre-season preparations.
Mdantsane, Potsane, Solomons, and Matlou are all vital components of the squad, and their absence has been keenly felt during the training camp. The injuries have posed a challenge for newly appointed head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is looking to implement his strategies and get the team in top shape ahead of the new season.
The string of injuries comes at a critical time for Kaizer Chiefs as they are in the midst of intensive preparations for the upcoming season. The team has been training and playing friendly matches against top Turkish teams to sharpen their skills and build team cohesion.
Despite these setbacks, there remains a sense of optimism within the squad. The coaching staff, led by Nabi, is working diligently to ensure that the rest of the team stays focused and maintains high training standards. The medical team is also working around the clock to rehabilitate the injured players and expedite their return to the field.

As the pre-season camp continues in Turkey, the focus will be on maintaining the health and fitness of the remaining squad members while integrating new signings and promoted players into the team dynamic. Chiefs fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on the recovery progress of Dove, Mdantsane, Potsane, Solomons, and Matlou, hoping to see them back in action soon.
The resilience and determination of the team in the face of these challenges will undoubtedly play a significant role in their performance in the upcoming season.
