Looking at how Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has been giving performing players a chance in the squad, Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm is one of the players who has raised his hand for a call-up, but the 30-year-old believes otherwise.
Timm has excelled in the Pirates team despite joining the Buccaneers from Marumo Gallants just a few months before the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
On Thursday, Broos named his squad for international friendlies against Sierra Leone and Botswana.
Timm, on the other hand, is focused on getting things right at the Buccaneers, and once he is settled, he says he will begin to consider making the senior national team.
“Not yet; I don’t believe I’ve reached my peak; it’s a transition that takes time.” I’m also attempting to be gentle with myself. It’s a feeling, and when the time comes, I’ll think about Bafana Bafana, but for now, I just want to keep improving with Pirates,” said the Pirates midfielder.
Given his age and the team’s reliance on young players in central midfield, Timm may never get another chance to represent his country at the senior level.
Broos has called Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart (27), Belenenses SAD’s Sphephelo Sithole (23), AmaZulu FC’s Ethan Brooks (21), and Pirates’ Goodman Mosele (22) for that role in the last few games for Bafana.
