Siyanda Xulu, the coach of Bafana Bafana, has explained why he was added to his national team squad ahead of friendlies against Sierra Leone and Botswana.
Xulu, 30, was not originally part of Broos’ 23-man squad but was added after Thibang Phete was injured.
Siyanda Xulu, the coach of Bafana Bafana, has explained why he was added to his national team squad ahead of friendlies against Sierra Leone and Botswana.
Broos initially declined to call up Xulu due to his lack of game time in recent months, but he has since explained that he adds a lot of leadership qualities to his squad.
“We had an injured player who needed to be replaced.” “I had two choices: take another player or take Siya.”
“I know I said last week that it was a little early for Siya because he had been out for five months, but he’s played the last two games, and he played 90 minutes.” I prefer to have someone like him again because he is a leader in the group, so I believe it was better to take him again, and while he may not be completely prepared, I know he’s a professional, so I believe he will give his all.
“he was always there until the game against France and that’s the reason why I take him back. I know him, I know his mentality and again he’s played two games already. That’s why I decided to take him.”
