Kaizer Chiefs founder and chairman Kaizer Motaung celebrated his birthday last week. As one of his gifts, he needed three points and a climb to first place.
KAIZER CHIEFS TEAM FAIL TO HONOUR MOTAUNG’S BIRTHDAY WITH VICTORY
As The South African reported last Saturday night, Siyabonga Ngezana’s first-half header into the net suggested it was Chiefs’ night.
But the Chilli Boys had a surprise to deliver.
Siphelele Luthuli drove home a 54th-minute equaliser, before it was followed by an Edmilson Dove own goal on 89 minutes.
A win could have lifted Chiefs to first place, but the Glamour Boys remained in fourth place instead.
MOTAUNG’S MESSAGE TO THE TEAM
Meanwhile, we have come across a video with Bra Kaizer addressing his players in celebration of his 78th birthday.
It is not confirmed whether the message was before or after the Chippa defeat, but it is a message that will be relevant throughout the season and beyond.
“You have to think like a winner,” Bra Kazier, known as ‘Chincha Guluva’ began.
“The only way you can succeed is if you think like a winner. That gives you strength because psychologically, you have already won before the game is played.
“It all starts up here [points to his temple]. Whatever you execute on the field, will depend on your mind.
