BREAKING: Arsenal’s £70m Signing Nears Completion, Journalist Reveals!

According to Luke Edwards, Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement to sign Declan Rice.

The journalist recounted what he’s been hearing about Rice on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, and he adds that there have been some rumors that this transaction has been verbally agreed upon in some way.

Now, Edwards did not indicate that Arsenal had agreed with West Ham or with Rice himself, but he did imply that there had been an agreement with’somebody,’ maybe referring to an intermediary or an agent, which is far from a guarantee that a deal will take place.

Edwards revealed what he knows about the rumored £70 million midfielder.

“Arsenal are supposedly, and have been quite like Real Madrid with Bellingham, they’ve supposedly got this deal verbally agreed with somebody that he’ll come to Arsenal, but West Ham are being sensible, they realise he won’t sign a new contract and they’re tyring to maximise what they will get for him, and I’ve heard them looking for as much as £150m for him,” Edwards said.

Someone may have assured Arsenal that the transaction will be completed this summer, but how many times have we heard that before?

Indeed, a verbal agreement with an agent does not guarantee a contract signature, and there is still a long way to go in this transfer saga.

Of course, striking an agreement with someone engaged in the trade is never a bad thing, and this deal appears to be moving in the right direction, but we’re still a long way from knowing Rice will be at Arsenal next season.
