Mikel Arteta is willing to sell Takehiro Tomiyasu to the right buyer, and Inter Milan is apparently prepared to make a bid for the Arsenal defender.
Last year, the Japan international struggled with injuries, which cost him his spot in the starting XI for the Gunners. He will likely drop further down the food chain now that Jurrien Timber has arrived.
Tomiyasu made just six starts overall last season, which is a considerable drop from the 20 he made the year before.
Therefore, Tomiyasu may benefit most from moving on from Arsenal. It is believed that because he previously excelled in the Serie A with Bologna, he would be receptive to joining Inter.
As Arteta wants to sign a new defensive midfielder, Arsenal is trying to sell a number of players. Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Timber cost the London club a lot of money, therefore they must sell before approving any other significant incomings.
One player they are open to selling is Folarin Balogun, as well as Jorginho and perhaps Thomas Partey.
Tomiyasu can now apparently be added to that list. Ben White and Timber, who are both capable of playing right wing, provide Arsenal with more than enough backup for the Japanese right-back.
According to the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, Inter intends to make a deal for Tomiyasu around €20 million (about £17.3 million).
However, given that Arsenal will only consider offers in the neighborhood of €35 million (about £30.2 million) for the right-back, that seems unlikely to be sufficient.
After losing Milan Skriniar to Paris Saint-Germain, Inter are anxious to sign a new right-back this summer, and manager Simone Inzaghi thinks Tomiyasu is a good possibility. But whether they can reach an understanding with Arsenal is still up in the air.
The Arsenal are aiming to offload players as Arteta aims to sign a new defensive midfielder before the transfer season closes, as was previously mentioned.
Romeo Lavia of Southampton is one player they might try to sign. For the Belgian, Liverpool and Chelsea have each submitted offers of £45 million and £48 million, respectively.
According to reports, if Arsenal makes more money from player sales this summer, they might bid on Lavia.
He is undoubtedly a man to keep an eye on over the coming days, though, as Liverpool are predicted to make another move for the £50 million Southampton star after missing out on Moises Caicedo.
