SNL24, a South African news channel, reported the information and added that Sundowns and Tau are currently in an advanced stage of talks.
This followed Tau’s observation that his old team, Sundowns, had defeated Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in the South African Premiership on Wednesday.
Tau has returned to his native country as a result of the break during the Egyptian off-season, but SNL24 thinks there is more to the tale.
An unconfirmed source claims that there is a ‘80% likelihood’ that Tau will leave Al Ahly this summer in order to rejoin his previous team before the upcoming season.
According to a source who spoke to the South African publication, Tau has 80% of the time to sign with Sundowns.
“Management and the technical team have discussed this move.
“He has already left Egypt, and he is here now. Yes, it’s off-season there (referring to the earlier story), but there are also talks between him and Sundowns.
“I can’t exactly say when it will happen, but things are looking positive right now.”
SNL24 said that they tried to get a statement about the new from Mamelodi Sundowns but got no answer.
Whether the rumors are accurate has not yet been determined, although Al Ahly already acquired Moroccan winger Reda Slim from FAR Rabat earlier this summer.
However, it is well known that Algerian midfielder Ahmed Kendouci would leave the team to free up a spot on the foreign-based list as Al Ahly try to acquire a new foreign striker.
