A striker for Al Ahly has reportedly been released amid speculation about a potential transfer to Kaizer Chiefs.
Following a lackluster stint in Cairo, the current African and Egyptian champions reportedly terminated Walter Bwalya’s contract.
The striker from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who joined the Red Devils in 2021 after leaving El Gouna, where he scored 16 goals in 35 games, has been unable to recapture the form he showed in Hurghada and has decided to leave the Ahly locker room.
The 28-year-old only scored five goals in the 31 games he played for the Club of the Century and has since spent the last two and a half years on loan to teams like Yeni Malatyaspor in Turkey, Al-Sailiya in Qatar, and Al Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia.
According to the same report, Ahly released Bwalya on its own initiative after failing to receive any interest in the forward from potential suitors. The club is now reportedly looking to hire a new foreign striker.

The Glamour Boys were rumored to be interested in signing the Lubumbashi-born attacker earlier in the transfer window, but after they acquired Efmamjjasond Gonzalez, it appears a transfer to Naturena is no longer likely for Bwalya.
According to reports, the 2021 CAF Champions League victor is actually en route to Casablanca to try and negotiate a transfer to three-time champions of Africa Wydad Athletic Club.
