If Rhulani Mokoena is to be believed, Mamelodi Sundowns will soon resume their search for new players.
Sundowns, in Mokoena’s opinion, are experiencing an injury crisis, and she sees recruitment as the only solution.
The head coach acknowledges that the season’s early commitments in the Caf Champions League and MTN 8 have made for a hectic start, which has seen Sundowns win the race to play five league games.
The Sundowns team has reportedly lost ten players to injury as a result of these early-season games.
Following his team’s Wednesday night 1-0 victory over Richards Bay, Mokoena opened up about the difficulties.
“We are in a difficult moment, we are in a very difficult moment,” he said to SuperSport TV.
“But at least we have a bit of break now before the next game. And now we have to crawl towards that game against Polokwane City, use everything that we have.

“We have a strong squad, and now give opportunities to everybody to fight for their place.
“And Richards Bay is a challenging team; they play with a lot of energy and pressure. You saw that when they applied pressure with their three, they kept applying pressure. You need to look for opportunities in the second line, and perhaps even the third line.Overall, the team gave a very strong performance; even the substitutes excelled. So, I’m happy for them.
Despite declining to make a firm commitment, Mokoena stated that they were likely to add at least one more player before the transfer window closed.
“It depends on what’s available, but there will probably be one more — and only one more,” he continued.
Sundowns’ next game is against Polokwane City in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday, August 30.
