Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed the need to bolster his squad when the transfer window opens in January.
Amakhosi brought in 10 new players at the start of the current campaign while they got rid of 13 stars; some of which had been with them for years.
Now, with Chiefs struggling for consistency, Zwane admitted that certain positions need to be reinforced come January.
Two of the biggest challenges Zwane is facing at Chiefs right now are his leaky defence and the thin strikeforce he has at his disposal.
ZWANE ADMITS KAIZER CHIEFS NEED NEW SIGNINGS IN JANUARY
“Most definitely,” said Zwane when asked by reporters about the need for Chiefs to bring in new players at the start of 2023.
“The plan we had was to give all the players we had an opportunity because we are in sort of a rebuilding phase. We are a work in progress, and we wanted to see before we start releasing players,” he continued.
“Firstly, we wanted to see and give a lot of players an opportunity because when you are building a style of play and identity, you want to give most of the players a fair chance.”
“The identity itself or style of play will, obviously, talk to the players that can fit in and also those who cannot fit in. And from there, you can see as to who you have to bring in, in terms of beefing up the team and who you have to release,” added Zwane
