Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has provided an injury update on captain Itumeleng Khune who hobbled off in their 3-1 win over Stellenbosch FC on Sunday
Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane admits he feared the worst when Itumeleng Khune went down injured but had his fears alleviated after consulting the club’s medical staff.
“I thought maybe he had snapped his groin but when I had a chat with him, he told me no. Even our physio and the team doctor told me it’s not bad,” Zwane told journalists after the match.
“We don’t know whether he is going to be out for the next
game in terms of availability or the cup game that we’ll be playing in Durban, so we will see. We will monitor him.
Khune was replaced by Brandon Peterson, the 28-year-old goalkeeper who usurped him as the club’s number one last season as Amakhosi saw out a comfortable victory.
