Bongani Zungu scored his first goal for his new team, AmaZulu, on Saturday. His amazing long-distance shot helped AmaZulu win 1-0 against Magesi FC.
This win moved AmaZulu into the top eight teams in the league. Magesi FC is now in 16th place with only seven points from 12 games. AmaZulu’s win was exciting for their fans, and Zungu’s first goal for the team was a special moment. Bongani Zungu joined AmaZulu FC for his own “mental happiness” after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns. He had been a free agent for months and had discussions with other teams, but ultimately chose AmaZulu because of the club’s environment and the president’s efforts to recruit him.
Zungu also expressed his excitement to work with the coaching duo of Arthur Zwane and Vusi Vilakazi, who have a modern approach to the game. Bongani Zungu played very well and was named the Man of the Match on his full debut for Usuthu.
In another game, Cape Town City lost 1-0 to Marumo Gallants. Edgar Manaka scored a penalty kick in the first half, helping Marumo Gallants win.
This was Cape Town City’s first loss under their new coach, Muhsin Ertugral. Marumo Gallants had not won a game in four matches, but this win helped them move six points away from the relegation zone.
