why Kaizer Chiefs Signed Fiacre Ntwari

Why Kaizer Chiefs Signed Fiacre Ntwari, a strategic move to bolster their goalkeeping department by signing Rwanda international Fiacre Ntwari from DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy.

This acquisition follows Chiefs’ extensive search for a new goalkeeper, which included considerations of top talents across Africa, such as Burkina Faso’s Herve Koffi, Ivory Coast’s Issa Fofana, and Oussama Benbot from USM Alger.

The 24-year-old Ntwari brings a blend of youth and experience to the Amakhosi squad. His early start in international football, representing Rwanda since he was 17, highlights his talent and potential.

Chiefs were particularly drawn to Ntwari’s adept ball-playing skills, agility, and reflexes, viewing him as a promising prospect who can grow and develop within the team.

Ntwari’s journey to professional football began in Rwanda, where he played for clubs like Intare FC, Marines FC, and AS Kigali. His consistent performances earned him a call-up to the Rwandan national team in 2017, further showcasing his abilities on an international stage.

His recent stint with TS Galaxy saw him feature in 32 matches across all competitions, conceding 29 goals and securing 13 clean sheets. Notably, his heroics in the Carling Knockout Cup, where he saved a crucial penalty to guide TS Galaxy to the quarter-finals, underscored his capabilities under pressure.

Chiefs’ decision to sign Ntwari was also influenced by the endorsement from their new goalkeeper coach, Ilyes Mzoughi, who had previously scouted the Rwandan star. Mzoughi is convinced that Ntwari will significantly enhance Chiefs’ goalkeeping options, especially in the wake of legendary goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune’s omission from the preseason squad. Ntwari will compete with existing goalkeepers Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma, and Bontle Molefe, providing robust competition and depth in the goalkeeping department.

Ntwari’s move to Kaizer Chiefs represents a significant milestone in his career, offering him the opportunity to compete at a higher level and showcase his talent on a bigger stage. As he joins his new teammates in Istanbul for preseason preparations, Chiefs’ fans will be eager to see how this talented goalkeeper can contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming season.
