The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Andrew Mapheto Road in Tembisa.
“We found four bottles of Don Julio alcohol. We also found a powder, which we suspect could be cocaine and weed edibles in his vehicle,” said Makgato.
“A female driver was transporting her nine-year-old daughter. The child succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The mother’s 13-year-old daughter sustained serious injuries and was transported to Tembisa Tertiary Hospital.”
She stated that charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and fleeing the accident scene have been filed at the Tembisa South police station.
