Lesedi Kapinga, the impressive free agent who showcased his skills during the Cosafa Cup, has addressed the ongoing speculations surrounding his potential move to either Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates.
After a three-year stint with Mamelodi Sundowns, Kapinga’s time at the club came to an end as he struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup.
Now, as a free agent, he has multiple options to consider, with both Chiefs and Pirates expressing interest in acquiring his services. His stellar performances at the Cosafa Cup have only intensified the demand for him in the transfer market.
“He is a quality player and at Kaizer Chiefs he could play number 10.”

In light of his challenging experience at Masandawana, Kapinga has revealed his preference for the club he’d love to join, emphasizing the importance of finding a team that appreciates and values his talents.
Speaking to Times Live, he stated, “I leave that to my agent, and I will speak to him maybe from Monday when I get to Joburg. I feel like right now it’s only a matter of me getting in a space where I’m going to play and want a team that is going to appreciate me.
Sometimes it’s good not to know a lot of things about it. If Sundowns works for other players, it doesn’t mean it will work for me. I just must focus on my career and build myself again.”
As one of Bafana Bafana’s standout players during the Cosafa Cup, Kapinga expressed gratitude for the experience and opportunity to play again after a significant period of time without regular game time.
Being in camp with the national team has bolstered his belief in his abilities as a player, and he now feels more motivated to excel further in his career.

If Kapinga decides to join the Naturena Revolution, he would become the fifth midfielder signed by Amakhosi during the current transfer window. Kaizer Chiefs have already recruited Pule Mmodi, Edson Castillo, Mduduzi Mdantsane, and Tebogo Potsane, aiming to strengthen their creative options and add more thrust in wide areas. Competition for spots in the midfield also exists with players like Keagan Dolly, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, and emerging talent Mduduzi Shabalala.
On the other hand, Orlando Pirates could benefit from reinforcements, particularly in the number 10 role, where Kabelo Dlamini is a viable option.
