Kaizer Junior seized the moment at the Legends Lunch held at FNB Stadium to deliver a resolute commitment to club Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung, reflecting on the club’s trajectory over the past eight years.
Continuing the celebratory spirit from the previous week when Dr. Motaung was rightfully inducted into the South African Hall of Fame, Amakhosi extended an invitation to numerous club legends for a grand Legends’ Lunch at their iconic home ground, Soccer City. The accolades for ‘Chincha Guluva’ resonated from various corners, with attendees effusively praising the visionary who laid the foundation for one of Africa’s premier football clubs.
Despite a rich legacy built on on-field success and a cabinet full of silverware, the Glamour Boys haven’t clinched a trophy since the 2014/15 season, raising valid concerns. In response to this, the club’s Sporting Director, Motaung Jr, a former trophy-laden player himself, stood before the club’s supremo, promising a relentless pursuit to reinstate the club’s golden era.
Addressing his father in a heartfelt expression of gratitude, Motaung Jr declared, “I saw the board with the words that you quoted you wanted this team to be – an institution of excellence. We know that in the last eight years, it’s been a lot of hard work and toil but that excellence that you have begun, we need to refine again. We promise you from every person who is privileged and honored still to wear that badge to give everything we can, to your legacy and the legacy of every single legend, the justice and the respect that it deserves.”

Expressing gratitude for his father’s genuine personality and the profound impact he has had on the country, Motaung Jr affirmed the commitment to upholding the club’s esteemed legacy. A pivotal step towards reclaiming past glories is the establishment of a legends committee, a strategic move that empowers former players to contribute to the club’s future direction, as reported by the 45min news team.
