Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly made decisions about the future of some senior players whose contracts are set to expire in five months.
These players, whose names remain undisclosed, are apparently not part of the club’s plans for the upcoming season and will be allowed to leave on a free transfer. The club is also gearing up for significant changes in their playing squad in a bid to enhance performance and compete for trophies.
Among the players facing possible exits are Siyethemba Sithebe and Sifiso Hlanti, whose contracts are nearing expiration. Recent additions to this list include Happy Mashiane and Zitha Kwinika. Njabulo Ngcobo, a defender who joined Chiefs from Swallows after being named Defender of the Season in the 2021/22 campaign, has been battling exit rumors. Despite initially facing competition from Mamelodi Sundowns, Ngcobo signed with Chiefs due to the club’s good relationship with Swallows.
However, Ngcobo’s time at Chiefs hasn’t gone entirely as planned. He has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup during his two-and-a-half-year tenure. The signings of Given Msimango and Thatoayane Dithlokwe have intensified competition for his position.

Despite this, Ngcobo has chosen to stay and fight for his place, occasionally earning starts. Nevertheless, his future with the club remains uncertain as he has yet to receive a contract extension offer. With his current deal expiring in June 2024, Ngcobo might consider seeking new opportunities elsewhere, with a potential return to Swallows being speculated.
