The mighty Kaizer Chiefs are linked with another central defensive talent. Here’s what this means for the existing options.
Kaizer Chiefs are expected to have another eventful transfer window in June-July. Amakhosi are now freshly linked with a central defender. Does this mean three others will be leaving?
KAIZER CHIEFS SIGN SUPERSPORT STAR, GET LINKED WITH TS GALAXY CAPTAIN
As The South African website previously reported, the Glamour Boys signed SuperSport United’s Thatayaone Ditlhokwe to join as a free agent in June.
Additionally, the club is now reported to be working toward the signing of TS Galaxy’s central defender Given Msimango.
With Msimango possibly arriving with Ditlhokwe in July, at least two existing defenders will be heading towards the Naturena exit gate.
TWO AMAKHOSI DEFENDERS TO LEAVE?
As things stand, Arthur Zwane currently has six central defenders in his squad, with Ditlhokwe set to make it seven in July:
Edmilson Dove, Zitha Kwinika, Siyabonga Ngezana, Njabulo Ngcobo, Austin Dube, and Erick Mathoho.
With the general number of central defenders in modern clubs set at five, Amakhosi are more than likely expected to release two.
Based on appearances and fitness, the most likely departures will be Erick Mathoho and Austin Dube. Why? Both defenders have only made one appearance each this season.
NGCOBO BECOMES THE THIRD?
Meanwhile, Njabulo Ngcobo has surprisingly been reported as a new potential departure at the end of the season.
According to a new report, the club is eager to search for new central defenders after the Director of Football Kaizer Motaung Jnr makes a decision on the 28-year-old Ngcobo.
