Kaizer Chiefs have decided against renewing the contract of veteran defender Eric Mulomowandau Mathoho,33 which runs out at the end of the season. Sources indicate that Kaizer Chiefs have informed Eric Mathoho and his representatives of their decision not to renew his contract.
The 33-years old joined Amakhosi from Bloemfontein Celtic back in 2012 and the lanky defender has proven to be a key player for them along the years having appeared in 211 games for the Phefeni Glamour Boys and netting 19 goals for them in the process. The lanky defender has enjoyed his stay at the Phefeni Glamour Boys having won 3 trophies during his tenure at the historic club. He may have had many shortcomings during his stay at the club especially in recent years but he is surely regarded as a Kaizer Chiefs legend for all the contributions that his made at the club.
This season the defender has featured in only a single official game for Kaizer Chiefs in all competitions. His been included in the matchday squad for numerous games but failed to get minutes. The defender is currently battling with a series of injuries which might be one of the factors he hasn’t featured much for Amakhosi this season. He is yet to recover from the injury but he must be wishing to come back as early as possible so he can possibly play his last game for Amakhosi and leave in a respectable manner and have a final goodbye to the Amakhosi fans that have grown in love with him during his years at the club.
