Amakhosi and Sundowns have expressed interest in Khanyisa Mayo, making the Cape Town City star a highly sought-after prospect
Kaizer Motaung has verified that Kaizer Chiefs are interested in a highly sought-after Bafana Bafana prospect, who is also being scouted by Mamelodi Sundowns.
Khanyisa Mayo have delivered a remarkable performance this year, the 24-year-old attacking midfielder has piqued the interest of several prominent PSL clubs.
For Cape Town City, Mayo has been an essential player, providing important goals and assists. His performances have caught the attention of PSL powerhouses, with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns apparently eager to sign him.
CHIEFS MAKE CONTACT WITH CITY OVER PLAYER TARGETED BY SUNDOWNS’
Kaizer Chiefs reach out to Cape Town City over a player also being pursued by Mamelodi Sundowns.
Despite Sundowns’ long-standing interest in Mayo, it has recently come to light that Amakhosi are also eager to acquire the services of the Cape Town City star.
According to sources, Kaizer Motaung is an admirer of Mayo’s talent and is keen on bringing him to the club.
“But when it comes down to someone like [Khanyisa] Mayo, great talent, but of course [it has to be a case of] willing buyer, willing seller,”Motaung told Thabiso Mosia on Game On.
Furthermore, Motaung (Kaizer Jnr) even reached out to Cape Town City Boss, John Comitis to enquire about Mayo.
“I think the last conversation that was had, Mr John Comitis (Cape Town City chairman) outright told us that he is not willing to sell Mayo right now [at the time] and that’s out there for public speculation,” he added. ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST FOR AMAKHOSI
While Comitis had previously stated that he had no intention of selling his player (at the time), there is still a glimmer of hope.
As this is taking place in the middle of the season, Mamelodi Sundowns’ continued interest, combined with Kaizer Motaung and Kaizer Chiefs’ newfound interest, means that we will have to wait and see what happens when the season concludes.
