Kaizer Chiefs are vigorously pursuing Bafana Bafana forward Elias Mokwana, who has expressed a strong desire to join the club. Chiefs have reportedly tabled an offer of R12 million to Sekhukhune United for Mokwana, although the latter values him at R15 million and hopes for a higher bid from an international club.
Kaizer Chiefs are actively pursuing several key signings as they prepare for the upcoming season under new coaching staff. The club is determined to strengthen their squad following a disappointing previous season. They are particularly focused on acquiring experienced players who can make an immediate impact.
Chiefs are set to announce Nasreddine Nabi as their head coach any moment now, with new signings on the way.
In terms other potential outgoings, players such as Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane are also thought to be at a crossroads at Chiefs. One other player that was mentioned in the same breath earlier last season is defender Zitha Kwinika.
CHIEFS INTERESTED IN MOKWANA
Now in terms of additions, there have been plenty of players linked with Chiefs. This, more so in attack, which has been described as a priority for this window. One of the prominent names linked to the club is Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana. This publication reported earlier that Amakhosi had taken the lead in an effort to sigh him.
The most recent update from the publication was that Chiefs are edging closer to the signing of Mokwana. Now according to close source, they have placed a bid for his services ahead of next season.
“That’s what Chiefs are offering. Yes, R12 million. But according to Sekhukhune United the lowest they could go for a local in the DStv Premiership could be R15 million. His value outside the country is between R25 million to R30 million but because they understand the monetary situation locally that’s why they could go down to R15 million. “But as I have said, there is an offer from Chiefs. It’s not Vnal and it’s not like they won’t talk. They are still talking,” said one source.
Another source insists that talks have progressed between Chiefs and Sekhukhune for Mokwana.
BID PLACED TO SEKHUKHUNE
“Talks are going on. There are no doubts about the interest from Chiefs though Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns also inquired about the player but nothing much came out from them. There are expectations of positive results to come out in the next few days as the team is preparing for a pre-season camp in Europe and they want the player to be part of that tour. So, give it a few days and things will happen,” said the source.
It seems as if Chiefs may have missed the deadline to have Mokwana on pre-season tour with them. They could perhaps look to strike the deal in a way which will see him join the team as soon as they return.
