Itumeleng Khune’s coach, Arthur Zwane, provides an update on his injuries. Khune’s return date is listed below.
Itumeleng Khune’s first injury update has been provided by Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane, who says things are looking better than initially anticipated.
Khune, 35, suffered a groin injury in the first half of Chiefs’ 3-1 comeback victory over Stellenbosch FC on Sunday and had to be replaced.
The club captain, according to Khune and the team doctor, won’t be out of commission for too long, Zwane stated.
When asked about Khune by the 45min football Times, he responded, “I feared he had perhaps snapped his groin, but when I had a discussion with him, he said no, even the physio and the team doctor informed me it’s not bad.
Regarding his availability, we don’t know if he’ll miss the upcoming match or the Cup game in Durban. We’ll watch him closely and see.
Khune only reclaimed the No. 1 spot at Amakhosi after a strong showing against Stellenbosch in the MTN8 quarterfinal. Since then, he has started the last five DStv Premiership games.
The Chiefs went undefeated and earned 11 of a possible 15 points in those contests, but they will now be without their captain for at least one or two contests.
