Renowned figure in the Premier Soccer League, Daine Klate, has been enlisted as the fresh head coach for La Masia FC, also recognized as MM Platinum in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The club revealed Klate’s appointment through their social media platforms on Thursday.
“Welcome our New Head Coach, Daine Klate, Matatazela. #drivingchampions,” wrote the club on their Facebook account.
The 38-year-old former player from Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United steps in to take the place of Delano Hendricks.
It is reported that Hendricks has been offered a different role within the club, relinquishing his coaching position after overseeing seven games this season.
He achieved just two victories, secured two draws, and experienced three defeats in the pursuit of promotion to the DStv Premiership.
Currently, La Masia occupies the ninth position in the league standings, accumulating a total of eight points. This places them eight points behind the leading team, Orbit College FC, who currently has 16 points.
Klate faces the immediate challenge of getting La Masia back on track, aiming to amass as many points as possible.
This is crucial for their hopes of contending for automatic promotion or a place in the playoffs towards the end of the season.
Given Klate’s extensive experience and numerous accolades as one of the most decorated players in the PSL, he is likely to focus on instilling a winning mentality in his players.
He will also collaborate with former Pirates teammate Moeneeb Josephs, who serves as the club’s goalkeeper coach.
Klate’s debut as head coach for La Masia is scheduled for October 21st when they face Casric Stars.
