Former Kaizer Chiefs Midfielder Mandla Masango has revealed why he turned down a PSL Contract.
Having been previously linked three top PSL Teams Mandla Masango received yet another offer which is believed to have stirred a few honest words from Mandla.
Having returned from Europe in 2018 , Mandla Masango has not featured in professional football. An opportunity to come back to Dstv Premiership was given to Masango.
According to several reports Masango rejected the offer stating that he won’t settle for and rather stay at home.
“The last time I had an offer, I won’t mention the club. But the person called me and offered me an amount that I can make even when I’m sitting on my couch at home. I can stay home and sleep the whole day and make that amount he was offering me.
“You must have respect when you speak to people, you must respect their craft. I feel like some of the PSL clubs don’t respect the craft of the players.
“Find a rugby or cricket player and tell me if you’ll read somewhere that they are broke. That’s because their craft is taken seriously and they are respected.
“The offer was from a Dstv Premiership team. I won’t divulge much but it was an offer that I wouldn’t accept.”
“It’s a very tough question to answer [why I can’t find a team] it’s not a matter of being so and so. It’s just a matter of principles,” said Masango.
“It’s not a matter of being who and who, it’s a matter of principles. When you are a person you must have your own principles, so I have my own. If my principles and expectations are not met, I’d rather stay at home.
“Last time I had an offer, but I won’t mention the team, was a Premiership team. That person offered me an amount that I can make even when I am at home without waking up.
“When you speak to people, you must respect their craft. I feel some of the clubs don’t respect the craft of the players, which is not right. In rugby and cricket, you won’t find broke players because their craft is being taken seriously.
“I will continue with my things and if something comes and meets my expectations, I will return. Life is a matter of negotiations, but don’t come to me and disrespect me. As much as I say this, I won’t close any doors.”
“Respect is earned and for me to Respect you , you’ll also have to respect me. Don’t come to me and disrespect me”
