Chiefs On A Double Selection

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have received a timely boost ahead of their DStv Premiership clash against AmaZulu this coming weekend.

SABC Sport understands the foreign duo of Mozambican international defender Edmilson Dove and Burundian international striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana have received their long-awaited work permits.

Signed about two weeks ago, Dove and Bimenyimana had been waiting for their permits to be processed by the Department of Home Affairs, and SABC Sport has gathered that all documentation has now been secured.

Bimenyimana’s availability comes at a critical time for Amakhosi head coach Arthur Zwane and his technical team with their attack heavily reliant on striker Ashley du Preez, who has just returned from injury and scored in the weekend’s MTN8 quarterfinal against his former team Stellenbosch FC.

The 1.9m tall frontman, who was signed after impressing on trial in pre-season, is set to bring some aerial strength to the Chiefs’ team, an area they have been struggling in since releasing the likes of Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro.

The 24-year-old, who is well versed in CAF inter-club competitions with Rwandan club Rayon Sports Club, has previously also spent time in Kazakhstan, Latavia and Slovakia.

Dove (28) needs no introduction to South African football, having starred at Cape Town City under former coach Benni McCarthy before playing over 100 matches at the club.

A multi-functional left-footed international player, who could slot into the left-back, left centre-back and left-midfield position, would give “Mangethe” another huge selection boost, following the return of Bafana Bafana left-back Sifiso Hlanti in the previous match.

Chiefs, who have lost three of their opening five league matches, will meet high-flying AmaZulu, who are currently third on the log with 10 points from five matches and just a point behind log leaders Orlando Pirates, who have played one game more.
