Kaizer Chiefs have been a dispirited club this week after getting dumped out by AmaZulu in the MTN8. To make it worse, Orlando Pirates have been on cloud nine after humbling Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 in the same competition.
KAIZER CHIEFS LEGEND KHUMALO COMPLAINS
The despair was particularly expressed by the Chiefs icon Doctor Khumalo, as reported by The South African website. The gist of Khumalo’s message was a cry for Chiefs to have a player with the ‘X-factor.’
“Kaizer Chiefs used to have an Ace Ntsoelengoe, Teenage Dladla, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Jabu Mahlangu, Doctor Khumalo, you name them but in this regard, is there a player like that?” Khumalo said.
“This is Kaizer Chiefs. It will humble you if you don’t know it. If you don’t know, ask those who’ve been there and they will tell you what it means to wear that jersey.
“You don’t just come in there because you want to be seen wearing the Kaizer Chiefs badge. What it means most is the people who are at the stadium and at home. Just put a smile on their faces,” he concluded.
Facing the media before Chiefs’ battle with Pirates in the Soweto derby this weekend, Dolly was asked to give his take on the legend’s cry.
“With us, as players, we control what we can control and that’s our emotions within the club as players you know, and our performances,” Dolly said as quoted.
“I don’t think there’s any player [in the squad] who wants to go out on the field and not do well for the club. Throughout the season we’ve been doing work but it’s a process, we’ve been building, and we’ve got new players.
Keagan Dolly has become Kaizer Chiefs’ new playmaker in the number 10 role.“Here and there we’ve had to change because of different opponents that we played, different tactics that we use and I think once we get it right we’ll start winning again. I think we create enough chances and once we start scoring goals, things will go our way again,” the Wesbury-born player concluded
