One of the South African football figures passed away on January 6, 2022. Despite having significant difficulties speaking the Queen’s language, Goodenough Sithole has managed to establish himself as a celebrity, an unexpected musician, and a brand ambassador.
WHY IS GOODENOUGH SITHOLE FAMOUS?
He became such an overnight celebrity that a South African lager beer, “5 Skippers,” was even named after him. He was also invited to attend as a special guest the end-of-season awards ceremony of his favorite football team, and several songs have been released with lyrics based on his odd behavior.
He even appears in a promotional video for Dstv today, joining a star-studded ensemble that includes some of South Africa’s best actors, football players, and pundits.
But Goodenough was more than just a football fan. He was known for his sportsmanship, humility, and charitable work off the screen. He was a role model for fans, and his legacy will live on for generations to come.
Sithole’s passing is a tremendous loss not only for the football community but for entire South Africa. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Sphamandla Goodenough Sithole You will be greatly missed.
