The triumphant transfer has been clouded by controversy as Pule Mmodi’s former agent, Solomon Seobe, emerges from the shadows with claims of foul play in the signing saga.
When Seobe enters the public eye, his frustration is palpable, with pointed remarks about Mmodi’s underhanded transition to Chiefs.
His rage erupts as he boldly declares his intention to pursue legal action to address the alleged misconduct.
Seobe then reveals, in a twist worthy of a prime-time sports drama, that the Footballers’ Union of South Africa will enter the fray to mediate and hopefully unravel the tangled web that surrounds Mmodi’s transfer.
“I spoke to the president of the union, Salter Motloung,” Seobe says in an exclusive interview with SABC Sport. They’ve offered to obtain the official contract so that we can deal with facts rather than hearsay.
I am open to a settlement, but if that fails, I will pursue legal action against Pule Mmodi. My fee will be deducted from his pocket.” It is a statement that emphasizes the gravity of the situation and the principles at stake.
Seobe doesn’t mince words when dissecting the timeline of events. “We all know PSL contracts come into effect on the 1st of July and he signed for Chiefs in June.
“They were waiting for the Golden Arrows contract to expire in order for the Chiefs contract to take effect,” Seobe claims, peeling back the layers of the puzzle.
He laments the deception he believes he was subjected to, revealing that Mmodi was not the lone figure he portrayed himself to be, casting doubt on the genuineness of his intentions.
Seobe’s revelations resonate with those who seek the intrigue and suspense of sports stories.
“I’ve been waiting for Pule to show me his contract and he has been saying he will give it (copy) to me when he gets it from the Chiefs and I’ve been waiting since last week,” he says.
Even though the team hasn’t announced anything yet, you should get a copy of the contract as soon as you sign.”
The agent’s rage is palpable as he delves into the heart of his complaint, his tone unyielding. “It’s a heinous betrayal because our contract expired last week in June.” “When I get a copy of the contract, I’ll know how much to sue for,” he declares, injecting legal risk into the mix.
As Seobe considers his next move, the stage is set for a showdown. “I’ll decide whether to take the case to the high court or the dispute resolution chamber.” Because I am directly involved in this, I am entitled to the contract.
“I want to show other players that when you see the promised land, you must not betray your agent,” Seobe concludes, leaving us on the verge of an enthralling climax.
Seobe, who is associated with SR Sport Management, adds a personal twist, alleging a verbal agreement with Mmodi.
“He (Mmodi) will come to Bloemfontein to renew his contract with me immediately after the last game of Arrows (last season),” Seobe claims, perhaps hinting at a sense of loyalty that has been jeopardized by recent events
