In an exciting sold-out match, Orlando Pirates and Al Ahly fought hard but ended up with a 0-0 draw in their CAF Champions League Group C game at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Orlando Pirates’ coach, Jose Riveiro, praised his team’s performance, saying, “It was excellent from start to finish against a tough and experienced opponent. We did well to keep the score level, but we missed a chance to score ourselves.”
Riveiro noted that his team had a strong start and created good opportunities in the first half. “If the first half had lasted a few more minutes, I believe we would have taken the lead,” he added. However, he felt that the second half was more challenging as Al Ahly slowed down the game, making it harder for Pirates to find their rhythm.
“I’m really proud of the entire squad. We gained another point and will keep pushing forward,” Riveiro concluded. With this draw, Orlando Pirates stay in second place in Group C, while Al Ahly remains at the top.
