Kaizer Chiefs’ sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr Gives an Update On Fawaaz Basadien, and confirmed that the club is interested in Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien. However, with less than two weeks before the transfer window closes, it seems Chiefs might not be able to secure one of their key targets.
Amakhosi have been linked to the Bafana Bafana defender for a while, and reports suggest they’ve already made an offer, which Stellies turned down.
Speaking on Radio 2000, Motaung Jr. acknowledged their interest but emphasized the importance of maintaining good relationships with other clubs.

“Regarding Basadien, we’ve always been open. We have a good relationship with Stellenbosch. He’s been on our radar for several seasons, but sometimes it’s all about timing,” Motaung Jr provide an Update On Fawaaz Basadien.
He added, “It’s not professional to discuss players who belong to other clubs, as it can destabilise teams. We respect our opponents, and while we’re often linked with players, many of the rumours are not true.”
Chiefs Still Keen on Velebayi
Motaung Jr also spoke about the club’s interest in Cape Town Spurs winger Asanele Velebayi. Chiefs have reportedly been eyeing the young winger for some time and have tabled an offer for him as well.
“Velebayi fits into our plan as a young prospect. He had a breakthrough season at Spurs, playing about 13 games. He showed great potential and impressed in the 2024 COSAFA Cup, where he got the chance to showcase his skills,” Motaung said.
As the transfer window deadline approaches, it remains to be seen if Chiefs can secure their targets.
