As the 2024 transfer window closes, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the loan moves of two academy graduates, Sabelo Radebe, and Donay Jansen, for the 2024/25 season. The newly appointed coach, Nasreddine Nabi, is focused on working with a smaller, more streamlined squad, which has led to the decision to allow the young players to gain valuable experience elsewhere.
Radebe, a 24-year-old midfielder, has struggled to cement a place in the Chiefs’ first team despite impressing during pre-season under Nabi. He will now join Richards Bay FC on loan, where he hopes to secure regular playing time and reignite his career. With just 17 appearances for Amakhosi over five seasons, Radebe’s most active period came in 2021/22, when he made 10 appearances and contributed one assist. The loan move is a chance for him to prove himself and potentially return to Chiefs as a more developed player.
Meanwhile, Donay Jansen, a 21-year-old wing-back, has signed a three-year contract extension with Kaizer Chiefs but will spend the upcoming season at SuperSport United, working under coach Gavin Hunt. Jansen, who has been a standout performer for the Under-23s in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC), made two appearances for Chiefs last season and is expected to gain significant experience at SuperSport.

The decision to loan out both Radebe and Jansen underlines Kaizer Chiefs’ commitment to nurturing their young talent. The club is confident that the duo will return as more experienced and confident players, ready to make an impact on the first team.
Radebe’s move follows advice from his former youth coach, Themba Dlamini, who believes that gaining experience away from the club will benefit the player. “When he was promoted to the first team, I saw the next Doctor Khumalo at Kaizer Chiefs. However, things didn’t go as planned for him. I think this loan move will help him regain confidence and secure more playing time,” Dlamini told FARPost.
As Radebe and Jansen embark on their respective loan spells, all eyes will be on their development and whether they can return to Chiefs as key players in the future.
