Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly set to sign another Stellenbosch FC star having already brought in Ashley du Preez and Zitha Kwinika this season.
KAIZER CHIEFS GO SHOPPING IN THE CAPE
Chiefs have allegedly made contact with the Cape club regarding the possibility of signing their star playmaker.
According to reports, Junior Mendieta is being tapped up for a possible transfer.
“Chiefs have made contact just to check Junior’s availability,” a source told GOAL.
“They also did the same thing with Zitha and Ashley before they opened transfer talks towards the end of last season.
A WORKING RELATIONSHIP
Thanks to their productive working relationship, Stellenbosch allowed Kwinika and Du Preez to transfer from the Western Cape side to the Soweto giants in a double swoop deal valued at about R13 million in June of last year.
Kaizer Chiefs are said to be impressed with the way the Argentine has controlled the midfield for Stellies this term.
The Chiefs midfield has been thrown into disarray by the departure of Njabulo Blom although Mendieta would hardly be considered a like for like replacement.
Mendieta came to Stellenbosch FC on loan from Argentinian club Lanus in 2020 before the club made the deal permanent the following season.
